Doru Sechelariu, Tech 1, Jerez GP3 testingRomanian driver Doru Sechelariu will stay in GP3 with the Tech 1 team this year. The 18-year-old Formula BMW graduate spent most of 2010 in the midfield, taking only three top-10 finishes and failing to score. But team boss Simon Abadie believes a year's experience will make a big difference to Sechelariu.

"In our second season in GP3, it was important for us to be able to continue with a driver who knows the championship," said Abadie. "So we're counting on Doru Sechelariu who showed flashes of good form last year. The fact that we've had a year's experience in the GP3 Series together will help us to fight with the frontrunners."

Sechelariu said continuity with Tech 1 would help his learning curve.

"My first season in GP3 was both instructive and constructive," he said. "The team and I progressed together. Staying in the GP3 Series with Tech 1 Racing was the best solution for me. We're growing together in this branch of the sport."

Tech 1 has also signed ex-Formula Renault Eurocup frontrunner Aaro Vainio for GP3 this year and has one more cockpit to fill.
