Newly formed DRR-SH Global Rallycross announced today that veteran driver Scott Speed will drive the team's entry in the upcoming round at X Games Los Angeles. the L.A. round will be the first race for the new team, while Speed won the opening race of the GRC season at X Games Brazil.
"I couldn't be more excited for the X Games Los Angeles. Running with DRR-SH Global Rallycross will definitely give me a chance at another Gold Medal," said Speed. "GRC has been a lot of fun so far and I am looking forward to being able to run an X Games at home in the USA."
Ex-F1 racer Speed currently runs in NASCAR for Leavine Family Racing.
"Scott is absolutely the perfect fit for our entry," said DRR-SH Global Rallycross co-owner Robbie Buhl. "He is hungry for victories, which he proved by winning his first X Games event in Brazil. Coming from Formula 1 and most recently NASCAR, he has a huge following and will be a great asset to our team."
DRR-SH Global Rallycross co-owner James "Sulli" Sullivan added, "Where we come from, any time our car is in the air, in the dirt, or sideways, none of us are smiling, so next weekend is a new ballgame. I'm pumped to have Speed leading our charge into the X Games."
The DRR-SH Global Rallycross entry will be run in conjunction with GRC champions OMSE2. WIX Filters and N.O.-XPLODE will be the primary partners of Speed's DRR-SH Global Rallycross car.
The 2013 X Games Los Angeles GRC event will take place on Sunday, Aug. 4. It will be broadcast live on ESPN at 5 p.m. ET.
