The Indianapolis Star is reporting that Tomas Scheckter is likely to fill in for the injured Mike Conway in the IZOD IndyCar Series race at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend, although no contract has been signed. Scheckter was a teammate to Conway on the Dreyer & Reinbold squad at Indy, and finished 15th. He is a previous IndyCar race winner at Texas (with Panther Racing in 2005).

Conway suffered a fractured leg and broken vertebra in his spectacular crash on the last lap of the Indy 500. Although no timetable has been set for the British driver's return to racing, he is believed likely to be sidelined for the remainder of the season.
