Former Formula Renault 3.5 racer Filip Salaquarda will contest the 2011 Superleague Formula season with 2009 title-winning team Atech Reid GP.
Czech racer Salaquarda, who was 11th in the FR3.5 standings last year, tested for the Cardiff-based team in December at Circuit Monteblanco in Spain, along with Briton Oliver Oakes in its Liverpool and AC Milan cars. It has yet to be revealed which club Salaquarda will represent, however.
"Superleague Formula is an extremely powerful car, with a sensational feeling to drive," said Salaquarda. "During our tests in Spain, I immediately understood that this was the right decision. I cannot wait to start to prepare for the championship."
Atech Reid principal David Hayle, whose team took Liverpool and Adrian Valles to the '09 title, added: "We are very excited to announce that Filip has signed with us. He has good experience gained from other categories similar in power to Superleague Formula cars. We are excited about the coming season and our aim is to win the championship again this year.
"Our driver lineup will emulate this and we are very much looking forward to Filip being part of the team. We anticipate the remaining drivers to be announced within the next week."
