Filip Salaquarda has joined Prema Powerteam for the remainder of the Formula Renault 3.5 season.

The Czech driver will line up alongside Julian Leal from the next round of the season at Budapest on June 13-14 in place of Formula 3 Euro Series regular Stefano Coletti, who made a one-off appearance at the last round in his native Monaco.

Prema boss Angelo Rosin said: "Salaquarda proved to be a really fast driver and he also has quite some experience. We followed him in the Euro Series, but we couldn't close a deal at that time. We're glad to have him for the season and I'm sure we will find great results during our cooperation."

After a shakedown at the Varano circuit, former F3 and Formula Master racer Salaquarda made his FR3.5 debut with RC Motorsport in Monaco two weeks ago. However, the 25-year-old had a prior agreement to move to Prema from Hungary onwards.

"I'm extremely happy for an opportunity like this, it could definitely boost my career," said Salaquarda. "I had the chance to test a World Series car, making my debut at Monaco and I built an immediate feeling with the car.

"I'll be facing a tough job at Prema but I'm sure I'll manage to get repaid for my efforts. I'm also looking forward to honour them with some great results after they trusted me for this new challenge."
