Saab's parent company Spyker has confirmed that it is in talks with BMW over gaining access to BMW technology and parts. The deal is expected to be rubber-stamped on Wednesday when the Spyker group will hold a press conference in Sweden.
Spyker has acknowledged “recent press speculation about the possible supply relationship with BMW.” Saab's owners added that “the group confirms that talks are ongoing and will give further details once a final agreement has been reached."
A BMW spokesman responded to the speculation by saying: "We are in talks with other manufacturers every now and then about a number of topics, on which we currently cannot provide any details. On Wednesday, Saab is organizing a conference in Sweden. We can only refer you to that conference."
In June, a Swedish newspaper reported that Saab was talking with BMW about the possibility of using the German manufacturer's engines and transmissions for its new 9-2 supermini.
