Runoffs preliminary schedule, supps released
SCCA Club Racing has released its preliminary schedule and supplementary regulations for the 2010 National Championship Runoffs. Both documents are available at the 2010 Runoffs home page and in the April issue of FasTrack News.
The biggest change for the event is the move back to a week-long schedule similar to the 2008 event, in which each race group will have three qualifying sessions spread out over the four days of qualifications, Monday, Sept. 20 through Thursday, Sept. 23. Each session will be 20 minutes in length, with a commitment to provide 20 minutes of track time from release from grid until the checkered flag waves, providing extensive cleanups do not dictate otherwise.
Qualifying groups will be identical to the race groups, of which there are 24, accommodating the 29 eligible classes for participation. Four of the races will include multiple classes with split starts.
"This year's schedule has been re-configured to mimic that of the 2008 event based on the feedback from the driver survey conducted following last year's event," SCCA Vice President of Club Racing Terry Ozment said. "The preference was to have individual qualifying sessions without class combinations, and the three sessions over four days option received the greatest support.
"In order to accommodate the four new classes into the event, the schedule now includes three more race-group combinations over 2009."
The race groups may be revised by the Club Racing Board one time prior to Aug. 22 for the purposes of safety or class subscription level.
Registration for the 2010 National Championship Runoffs at Road America will open July 20.
