The reported interest of Mercedes-Benz in buying a share of Brawn GP has sparked rumors that current Williams driver Nico Rosberg could be in line for a Brawn GP race seat in 2010.

According to Swiss newspaper Blick, the pending Mercedes stake in Brawn will result in prominent Mercedes branding appearing on the Brawn cars next year, and Rosberg – who has been widely tipped to join Mercedes' current F1 partner, McLaren, in 2010, will join Brawn instead.

McLaren's contract with Mercedes runs through 2011, and a spokesman for the Woking, UK-based squad said yesterday the company had no objections to its partner expanding its F1 involvement.

"We're supportive of our partner's plans regarding engine supply of other teams in Formula 1," the spokesman said.
