This year's 24th edition of the Race of Champions will be held in Dusseldorf's ESPRIT arena on Dec. 3-4.
The German venue, which also hosted last year's end-of-season event, replaces Frankfurt's Commerzbank-Arena after a late clash of dates forced RoC organizers to find a new venue.
While Dusseldorf's experience of hosting the RoC counted in its favor, its close proximity to Frankfurt was also a key factor as organizers hope to attract existing ticket holders to the new venue.
Race organizer Fredrik Johnsson hopes that a special offer for existing ticket holders will help attract them to the ESPRIT arena. Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel have already confirmed their participation, the German duo returning to defend the title they secured in 2010.
"We had a successful event at the ESPRIT arena last year and we look forward to working alongside the same people again," Johnsson said.
"While we are happy to be heading back, we want to apologize again to all the race fans who made plans to join us in Frankfurt. We were contacted by a number of great venues but Dusseldorf is the closest alternative and we hope our special offer will make up for some of the disappointment.
"With Michael Schumacher, Sebastian Vettel and the other great champions, the event is sure to thrill everyone who makes it to Dusseldorf in December."
