Ferrari's chances of taking GT2 victory in this year's Le Mans 24 Hours have suffered a blow, with the leading Risi Competizione entry hitting trouble in the eighth hour.
The No. 82 430 had spent the last few hours exchanging the lead with the No, 64 Chevrolet Corvette. Jaime Melo was fighting Corvette driver Oliver Gavin when he started suffering from an intermittent gear selection problems. Melo has now brought the car in and the team expects the delay to be a lengthy one.
Risi's problems mean that Corvette Racing is currently 1-2 in GT2, Jan Magnussen now running around a minute behind Gavin. The leading Ferrari is now the No. 95 AF Corse car that is fighting the No. 77 Felbermayr Porsche for third at present.
