The highly anticipated NASCAR Nationwide Series debut of Travis Pastrana at Indianapolis this weekend could be in jeopardy after the motocross and rally racer reportedly suffered foot and ankle injuries while attempting a motorcycle trick at the X Games on Thursday night in Los Angeles.

Pastrana crashed while trying a 720-degree rotation at the X Games event in L.A.'s Staples Center, and ESPN, which covered the event, later reported that Pastrana had suffered fractures to his right foot and ankle in the incident.

"I'm on my way to the hospital for x rays, something with my foot, I'll keep everyone posted," Pastrana posted on Twitter. "Might be driving with my hands on Saturday."

Pastrana was scheduled to make his inaugural Nationwide start Saturday night at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis, in a car he co-owns with Michael Waltrip. However, NASCAR.com reported Friday that the transporter of Pastrana-Waltrip Racing had departed Lucas Oil Raceway to return to its shop in North Carolina, and that Pastrana would not compete in the Nationwide race.

Pastrana's anticipated recovery time, as well as when he might next attempt a Nationwide Series start, were not immediately known. He was scheduled to attempt seven Nationwide events this year, the next coming at Richmond. Pastrana has competed in four K&N Pro Series events to prepare for his NASCAR debut.
