IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard has promised he would pull out all the stops to try and attract attention for the $5 million challenge at the IZOD World Championships in Las Vegas.

While it doesn't appear any of Bernard's selected three drivers (Travis Pastrana, Kasey Kahne, Alex Zanardi) who would “move the needle” will race, the Indianapolis Star reported 2011 Indianapolis 500 champion Dan Wheldon will be eligible for the $5 million.

According to the report, Wheldon would win $2.5 million for his team and $2.5 million for a fan if he wins.

The team was not specified, but IndyCar has announced a “GoDaddy IndyCar Challenge announcement” Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 2 p.m. EST, with more information.
