British newspaper the Daily Mail reports that Nelson Piquet Jr. and his three-time World Champion father, Nelson Piquet Sr., have launched a libel suit in the UK's High Court against former Renault F1 boss Flavio Briatore, who also served as the younger Piquet's manager in his brief F1 career. The Piquets are seeking £200,000 ($300,000) in damages, according to the paper.
The lawsuit is based on a press release issued by Briatore which accused the two Piquets of giving false evidence to the FIA and consequently blackmailing Renault F1.
Briatore had previously indicated he intends to pursue legal action of his own against the Piquets in both France and Britain.
