The Renault Driver Development program is set to be relaunched by the Formula 1 team's boss Eric Boullier.

Boullier wants to revive the junior driver system, which previously supported the likes of Robert Kubica, Heikki Kovalainen, Lucas di Grassi and Romain Grosjean, and could include tests of an older-spec Renault F1 car.

"It would be a way for them to spend some time in the team so they can understand the way it works and the complexity of F1," Boullier said. "Obviously, they would need to race in GP2 or World Series alongside it, but there could also be properly run F1 testing."
