Renault has undertaken a reshuffle of its technical department in the wake of the changes that were forced on it following Flavio Briatore's and Pat Symonds' departure earlier this year.
Just before the Singapore Grand Prix, the team's technical director Bob Bell was promoted to the team principal role to replace Briatore – who resigned in the wake of the race-fix controversy. No decision was made at the time about installing a replacement for Bell, but the team has now decided that James Allison will be promoted to the role from his position as deputy technical director. The move suggests that Bell will be remaining in a senior management role at the outfit for the foreseeable future, rather than returning to his former position.
Renault has also promoted team manager Steven Nielsen to the position of sporting director to help take some of the responsibilities that fell under Symonds' domain.
The Enstone, UK-based team has also confirmed that vehicle technology director Tad Czapski, who was in charge of vehicle dynamics and electronics, is leaving.
