Ferrari GT specialist Matt Griffin will join the new British Ram Racing team for its assault on the European Le Mans Series this season.
The 30-year-old Irishman, who has successfully raced the Italian manufacturer's cars in a variety of series since 2008, will join stalwart sports car driver Johnny Mowlem in one of Silverstone-based Ram's Ferrari 458 Italia GTE contenders.
Silver-rated Griffin, who counts as the "amateur" driver demanded by the ELMS' pro-am format, said: "While Ram is a new team, there's an awful lot of experience there right the way through. For me it's a massive bonus to drive with someone like Johnny. I think we'll work really well together and hopefully I'll learn a lot from him as well."
Ram team principal Dan Shufflebottom, who was formerly Michael Schumacher's number one mechanic at the Mercedes Formula 1 team, said: "With the amount of experience Matt has accumulated over the past couple of years, he's naturally a man in demand and we're really pleased that he chose to put his faith in us for the ELMS."
Griffin finished second in the GTE Am class in last year's truncated ELMS, driving an AF Corse Ferrari 458 with Marco Cioci and Piergiuseppe Perazzini. He also contested the Silverstone World Endurance Championship event with the same team.
The lineup in Ram's second car has yet to be finalized.
The new-look 2013 ELMS, which is made up of three- rather than six-hour events, kicks off at Silverstone on April 13, the day before the WEC series opener at the British venue.
