Jorge Lorenzo, Yamaha, Donington, 2009MotoGP world championship contender Jorge Lorenzo says he is not afraid of a wet British Grand Prix at Donington Park on Sunday.

The Spanish Yamaha rider says that while he would once have been nervous about racing in the rain, he now sees tomorrow's poor weather forecast as an opportunity to shine.

"Maybe some years ago I would have been more scared of the rain," said Lorenzo. "I think every rider is a little scared of the rain because you can crash because of little mistakes. But I think on this I have improved a lot and I can go for a good result."

Lorenzo added that he felt confident whatever the weather after qualifying a strong third behind title rivals Valentino Rossi and Casey Stoner.

"I'm quite pleased about my pace here because every race we improve by a few more tenths," he said. "Today the pace has been a surprise for me. I was able to do my lap time and the rear tyre wasn't going down so I am quite confident for tomorrow. The only other thing is that we expected a little bit more performance with the soft tire."
