The second day of practice for the 2009 Indianapolis 500 had to be called off after just 48 minutes due to rain on Wednesday.
The day was supposed to have seen the final three hours of rookie testing before the full field took to the track for the first time this month.
But with the rain arriving and showing no signs of abating, the decision was taken to call off the remaining Wednesday running in favour of extending Thursday's practice time.
Rather than running from midday to 6pm local time as planned, tomorrow's practice will now start with an hour of rookie running to allow 3G's Stanton Barrett to complete his rookie orientation programme, before the track opens for all cars at 10.30am.
Prior to today's stoppage, HVM driver Nelson Philippe managed to finish his rookie programme, while returnee Alex Lloyd used his refresher practice allowance to get some mileage in Sam Schmidt Motorsports' machine.
