The Kentucky NASCAR Sprint Cup race has been postponed to Sunday afternoon due to persistent rain at the track.
Conditions were poor at Kentucky Speedway all day on Saturday, with repeated showers following earlier thunderstorms. Despite NASCAR's best efforts to dry the track, the rain returned every time progress appeared promising.
An hour and a half after the scheduled start time of the Saturday night race, the decision was taken to abandon the evening and reschedule the race for midday local time on Sunday.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. will start from pole position alongside Carl Edwards, with championship leader Jimmie Johnson third.
