Williams is closing on a deal to bring 2007 World Champion Kimi Raikkonen back to Formula 1 next season, according to multiple media reports in Europe.

Finland's MTV television and Italy's Autosprint are both reporting that Raikkonen, who has been out of the sport since leaving Ferrari for the World Rally Championship in 2009, will replace Rubens Barrichello at Williams next season with backing from Qatar-based investors.

Raikkonen, who dabbled in NASCAR this year as well as continuing his largely unsuccessful rallying efforts in a Citroen, has offered no comment on the mounting speculation.
