Like most professional athletes, X Games superstar Jamie Bestwick keeps himself very busy. In addition to his action sports competition schedule, he can be found in the NBC broadcast booth at events like the Dew Tour, the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, and later this summer covering the London Olympics.
This weekend we find Bestwick competing at the X Games Los Angeles (shown in 2011, LEFT, photo courtesy Pete Demos/ESPN Images), attempting to become only the second to score six consecutive championships in X Games history as he faces all comers in BMX Vert – the event he has owned for the last five years, laying claim to a total of eight gold medals.
Not one to sit idle, Bestwick is testing his metal in yet another discipline in 2012 as he takes on the SafeRacer SCCA National Racing Series, with his eye set on the SCCA National Championship Runoffs, the premier championship event for amateur road racers.
In January 2012, Bestwick strapped into his H Production classed Toyota Yaris for his first SCCA National race at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif., where he finished second. This season, Bestwick has scored seven podium finishes, earning enough points to secure an invitation to the highly coveted SCCA Runoffs, which take place Sept. 20-23, 2012 at the famed Road America circuit in Elkhart Lake, Wis.
