April 11, 1992 marked the birth of RACER at the first party for the magazine. The latest party came Saturday night at The Sky Room in downtown Long Beach, just north of the Seaside Way backstraight on Ocean Blvd.
Hundreds of attendees flocked to celebrate RACER's 20th Anniversary, and primarily the magazine's relaunch in the hands of its founder, Paul Pfanner, and the company's new direction as part of RACER 3.0.
Essentially there were "two waves," the IndyCar contingent roughly in the first group before the luminaries from the American Le Mans Series came after its race was completed later Saturday evening. A great gathering of drivers and team officials from both series were present throughout the evening.
We're thankful to all who were attended. A sampling of reactions from those on Twitter are below:
"At the @RACERmag party in LB. All proceeds go to @RacingForCancer. Great magazine, great people!!" -Ryan Hunter-Reay, IZOD IndyCar Series driver
"Thanks to @RACERmag for an incredible 20th anniv party tonight. Here's to the 40th!" -Marshall Pruett, SPEED.com Auto Racing Editor, and author of the words for DeltaWing "In Focus" studio shoot in the May issue of RACER
"Afterwards we followed up with a fantastic party & laughs at @racermag party" -Chris Dyson, Dyson Racing sporting director and co-driver
