This year's Race of Champions will be held at the Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, organizers have announced. The event moves to the Asian country from Dusseldorf in Germany, which hosted last year's race.
This year's Race of Champions will take place in December again, but organizers said the exact dates are to be announced shortly.
It will be the 25th anniversary of the event, which brings together some of the best racers from major disciplines to compete against each other.
"We have again been swamped with offers from first-rate venues all over the world but we couldn't think of a better place to celebrate our 25th anniversary than Thailand," said race organizer Fredrik Johnsson. "Following our visit to Beijing's 'Bird's Nest' Olympic Stadium in 2009 this is only the second time the event has been held outside Europe. Now we can look forward to seeing some of the best drivers in the world fighting it out at ROC in Bangkok."
The 2012 event will take place on a specially constructed asphalt track with two parallel lanes winding their way round the Rajamangala Stadium, which has capacity for 50,000 people.
