Highcroft Racing's challenge for LMP2 class honours has been hindered once again by a puncture on the #26 HPD ARX.01 during the 10th hour of Le Mans. Marino Franchitti was driving when the right-rear tire deflated early in the lap.
"This is our third puncture," co-driver Werner said. "I had two. It's probably gravel. The material they use for the gravel traps here is very sharp.
"It's a pity, because we were running at a very controlled pace. More positively, the tire carcass didn't break up and Marino was able to bring the car back without damage, so we didn't have to change the bodywork."
The Highcroft car is now two laps behind the leading HPD chassis run by Strakka Racing.
