Alice Powell will be the third female driver to join the GP3 field this year after securing a deal with Status Grand Prix. The 19-year-old British racer graduates to GP3 after three seasons competing in Formula Renault in the UK.
Powell, who tested with Status at Silverstone last week, completes the team's lineup alongside Marlon Stockinger and Kotaro Sakurai.
"I am delighted to join Status GP for my step up into the international motorsport arena," Powell said. "I liked the GP3 car immediately, and I am confident that together we will produce some strong results.
"I will be learning the F1 circuits and the formula this year, but the team is very experienced and we're already working well together."
Powell is the third female racer to join the series this year alongside Carmen Jorda and Vicky Piria.
