Competent Motorsport LLC, founder and organizer of the Pirelli GT3 Cup Trophy USA West racing series has formed a partnership with Discount Tire for its remaining events in 2012 as well as the 2013 season. The series features three classes of Porsche GT3 Cup cars – Platinum (997 GT3 Cup: 2010-2012), Gold (997 GT3 Cup: 2006-2009) and Silver (996 GT3 Cup: 2000-2005), and is now in its sixth season. The series will have its most high-profile race to date when it runs as a support event at the United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of The Americas next month.

The series last raced at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca (Oct. 13-14), and the COTA event will mark the season finale.
A critical component of the series is its educational component, as drivers are given the opportunity to participate in advanced driving technique sessions with professional coaching drivers as well as participating in one-on-one coaching sessions on mastering car control, situational awareness, and utilizing the technology of their car in a race environment.
