Rahal Letterman Lanigan driver Pippa Mann had surgery on Sunday night to clean and assess a severe burn injury to the little finger of her right hand, the team has announced. She is scheduled to be released from the University Medical Center in Las Vegas this morning. Mann will need a subsequent surgery in two to three weeks to completely repair the injury, but is expected to make a full recovery.

Rookie Mann was among those caught up in the 15-car accident in Sunday's IndyCar finale Las Vegas, in which Dan Wheldon suffered fatal injuries. It is her second injury accident of the season, as she suffered a fractured vertebra in a crash during practice at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in August.

JR Hildebrand, who was also transported to University Medical Center by ground following the accident, was found to have suffered a severely bruised sternum and was held overnight for observation.
