Ferrari has announced that Sauber's new recruit for 2011, Sergio Perez, is to join its young driver program. The Mexican will step up to Formula 1 with the Ferrari-powered Sauber team next year after an impressive campaign in GP2, where he is currently second in the standings ahead of the season finale in Abu Dhabi next month.
Due to Ferrari's links with Sauber, Perez has now been signed to the Ferrari Driver Academy, which will allow him access to the development program that the Maranello-based team has prepared.
