Penske Racing is expected to make a decision regarding Kurt Busch's future with the team within the next few hours, with reports suggesting that an announcement will be made this afternoon.
The 33-year-old's position was thrown into doubt after he was filmed making an obscene gesture in his cockpit while returning to his garage for repairs early in the race at Homestead. A fan then caught video of him verbally abusing ESPN pit reporter Dr. Jerry Punch and his cameraman during an attempted interview.
NASCAR responded with a $50,000 fine and both Penske and sponsor Shell/Pennzoil issued statements expressing their displeasure at Busch's actions, with Penske also confirming at the time that it was investigating the matter internally.
