The Carlin team will not start from pole position on its first weekend in GP2 after Max Chilton lost his pole for tomorrow's Asia series sprint race in Abu Dhabi due to a penalty.
Chilton had finished eighth in today's feature race, which should have earned him pole on the partially reversed race two grid. But the Briton was penalized for "failing to respect the track limits" when overtaking Stefano Coletti for the position near the end of the race. Chilton was given the equivalent of a drive through, with 20 seconds added to his race time – dropping him to 12th.
Coletti therefore moves up to eighth in the feature race results and pole for the sprint race. The Trident driver will share the front row with iSport's Sam Bird.
