Max Papis will make his V8 Supercar debut this year after joining Dick Johnson Racing for the Gold Coast 600.
The 42-year-old Italian, whose only high-profile race this year was the Daytona 24 Hours, will share one of Dick Johnson Racing's Ford Falcons with team regular Steven Johnson at the event at Surfers Paradise.
The former Formula 1 racer and Champ Car race winner is not the only international driver to be named in DJR's Surfers line-up. GT regular Peter Kox will share James Moffatt's car while Gianni Morbidelli has been named in Dean Fiore's international co-driver.
"With a team the size of ours, it was important we found drivers who were of an exceptional standard but who also fitted with our team dynamic," said team chief Johnson.
"They need to hit the ground running and fit in quickly in October and the group we have found, we believe, due to their experience and professionalism, will be excellent additions to the DJR team."
DJR has also confirmed its line-ups for the Bathurst 1000 and Phillip Island 500 events, with Johnson sharing his Falcon with Allan Simonsen; Moffatt partnering Alex Davison and Fiore splitting driving duties with Matt Halliday.
