Simon Pagenaud will compete in this year's Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on June 30. The Schmidt Hamilton IndyCar driver will race under the banners of Honda Performance Development and Team-Honda Research, although specific details about Pagenaud's Pikes Peak vehicle entry and racing class have not yet been announced.
"Pikes Peak presents us with a unique opportunity to showcase Honda's diverse product line-up and to energize Honda fans around world, as we work to further strengthen Honda's presence in racing at all levels," said Mike Accavitti, Senior Vice President of Automotive Operations for American Honda. "Our associates will be working hard between now and race day to prepare this diverse field of race vehicles and showcase the Honda racing spirit."
Honda will field cars, motorcycles and an ATV in nine classes along with announcing that it will be a major event sponsor for this year's Pikes Peak race, which falls on an open weekend for the IZOD IndyCar Series. Honda has entered a single vehicle the previous two years, and also had entries in the 1990s.
World Rally Champion Sebastien Loeb is also set to make his debut at Pikes Peak in a factory Peugeot entry.
