Simon Pagenaud was quickest in the final warm-up session ahead of Sunday's IZOD IndyCar Series race at Barber Motorsports Park. The Schmidt-Hamilton rookie went to the top with his final flying lap of 1m111.2414s, bettering previous pacesetter Will Power (Penske) to the tune of 0.3368sec.
Takuma Sato was third-fastest in the Rahal Letterman Lanigan entry ahead of Penske's Helio Castroneves and Ganassi's Graha Rahal.
The shortage of dry running during the opening two days of the weekend made for a busy morning, with most teams taking the opportunity to log as many laps as possible, although there were two brief stoppages when Ryan Hunter-Reay and Sebastien Bourdais came to a halt on the circuit.
Hunter-Reay's car was restarted and the Andretti driver was able to complete the session. However, Bourdais was less fortunate and was forced to park after having completed just two laps for Dragon Racing.
