Norwegian driver Mads Ostberg enjoyed the perfect Rally GB warm-up, winning the Cambrian Rally by close to two minutes on Saturday.
The Subaru Impreza driver was fastest on all but one of the North Wales stages, a spin costing him the clean sheet through the second Clocaenog test.
"It's been a good day," said Ostberg. "I enjoyed the rally and the roads were quite similar to what we will be using on Rally GB. I was making some changes on the suspension, on the rebound and things like that, just trying to get a little bit more grip.
"It was slippery all of the time, quite loose in the open, but still wet in the trees. I missed a junction in the second stage, that cost me about 10 seconds, but apart from that, it was very good."
Former Production Car world champion Nasser Al-Attiyah finished the event fourth, but won his class, in his Subaru Impreza WRX.
The Qatar driver had enjoyed a day-long tussle with his fellow P-WRC runner Eyvind Brynildsen, who had been 10 on his gravel debut in a Skoda Fabia S2000. Unfortunately for Brynildsen, his car suffered suspension damage after he clipped a stone.
The car will be fixed in time for this week's Rally GB, which starts in Cardiff on Thursday evening.
