British Touring Car Championship racers Paul O'Neill and Jason Hughes will both be missing from the opening round of the season at Brands Hatch this weekend.

Two-time race-winner O'Neill, who was due to race a Tech-Speed Motorsport-run Honda Integra-R, has work commitments elsewhere, meaning that the team has reduced its effort to a single car for Martyn Bell.

"It's a shame I have to miss the weekend," said O'Neill, who will now make his first appearance of the season at Thruxton later this month.

"The support we have seen so far has been great and I can't wait to get out in the car and get back on track."

Hughes, meanwhile, has pulled his KWR Sport team out of the triple-header at Brands Hatch because he is not yet fit to race his MG ZS.

The 39-year-old driver was told by his doctor earlier this week that his knee has not yet fully recovered from an operation in February.

He will have to wait at least another week to find out if he will be given the all-clear to race at Thruxton.
