Sebastien Ogier's Rally Argentina lead is in jeopardy after the Citroen driver rolled near the end of today's opening Ascochinga stage.
Ogier looked assured of victory as he took a 47-second lead over Mikko Hirvonen into the final leg, which consists of just the mammoth 48km Ascochinga test and three very short stages. But near the end of the opener he rolled his Citroen, sustaining front end damage.
"I cut a corner too much and I rolled," Ogier explained.
He managed to get the car to the end of the stage and will now assess the damage on the following road section. The remaining three stages total just 11 competitive kilometers, but there is only a regroup rather than a full service so there will be limited opportunities for Ogier to effect repairs if there is significant damage to his DS3.
His teammate Sebastien Loeb is now up to second, just 21sec behind Ogier, and 2sec ahead of Ford driver Hirvonen, who picked up tire damage on Ascochinga himself.
