Swiss driver Natacha Gachnang will not require surgery after her dramatic accident in qualifying for the inaugural FIA GT1 World Championship race at Abu Dhabi.
Gachnang, 22, sustained what was described as a simple fracture of her right tibia in the accident, which happened at the end of the Yas Marina circuit's long back straight. Her leg was put in plaster on Saturday evening and she is not expected to remain in hospital.
The Matech Competition team, which runs the Ford GT Gachnang shares with Cyndie Alleman, has yet to reveal the cause of the accident.
