Nigel Mansell will sit out this weekend's Le Mans Series season finale at Silverstone on doctor's advice following his accident at Le Mans in June.
The 57-year-old has not raced since crashing at high speed in the early laps of this year's Le Mans 24 Hours and watched from the sidelines as his sons Leo and Greg took his Beachdean Mansell-run Ginetta LMP1 to a class victory in Hungary last month.
"While I am extremely disappointed not to be racing this weekend at Silverstone I will be there in my capacity as team owner and working with Leo, Greg and the rest of the team to give us the best chance of a good result at our home event and finish our first LMS season on a high," he said. "The result in Hungary was a great result for the whole team but credit must go to Leo and Greg who drove a fantastic race to reach the top step of the podium.
"However, we still have a lot of work to do and a good result at Silverstone is very important as we are starting to look forward to next season and search for a title sponsor."
