Dan Wheldon, who succumbed to injuries suffered in a horrific crash at the IZOD IndyCar Series finale at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, was one of a golden crop of richly talented British drivers to graduate from karting to junior open-wheel formulae in the mid to late-1990s.
