Scuderia Toro Rosso has confirmed its new car will be ready for the opening preseason test at Jerez next month, after passing all the mandatory crash tests this week.
For 2012, all Formula 1 teams must complete the FIA crash tests before they are allowed to run their cars on track. In previous years, the tests only had to be done before first practice for the season opener. Toro Rosso confirmed that its car had been approved, and that it was on course to run for the first time at Jerez on Feb. 7.
"We now know the car is strong enough and as of Feb. 7 in Jerez, we can start work on making it quick and reliable," read a statement by the team.
Toro Rosso is running an all-new driver lineup in 2012, with Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Eric Vergne replacing Sebastien Buemi and Jaime Alguersuari.
