Thermal Motorsports Track & Club, the latest planned addition to the country's growing number of membership-oriented "country club" road courses, has announced a new partnership to accelerate development of the facility, which is expected to open this fall on 344 acres adjacent to the Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport east of La Quinta in the Palm Springs, Calif., resort area.
Tim and Twanna Rogers along with their son, John, have acquired majority stake in the luxury, member-only racing facility. "We are thrilled to be able to partner on such an exciting project. The need for a facility like this in Southern California is long overdue since the closing of Riverside in the late '80's. Thermal Motorsports Track & Club is destined to become one of the world's finest motoring facilities," said Tim Rogers.
The family behind one of the nation's largest wholesale fuel providers, the Rogers' have been in close contact with the Thermal development team since the project's inception. “We have enjoyed a great relationship with the Rogers over the past few years and are delighted to form this partnership with them” said Paul Clayton, on behalf of himself and partner, Blake Miraglia.
The facility received unanimous planning commission approval in June and is scheduled to start clearing the property for grading this month, with completion of the track expected later this year.
Plans for the track, which has been designed by renowned racetrack designer, Alan Wilson, call for three independent road circuits with 16 configurations, a 70ft control tower, private member areas with concierge services, on-site storage garages, as well as building sites for individuals, businesses and automotive manufacturers looking to create their own trackside, entertainment garage and driving experience centers.
