Superleague Formula will become the first international racing series to christen the new Ordos International Circuit in October as the first leg of a Chinese doubleheader.
The event will be Superleague's first foray outside Europe in its third year of competition, and the Ordos event will take place on Oct. 2-3, with an additional round taking place at an undisclosed venue a week later. The Chinese races will form the 10th and 11th rounds of the now 12-event series.
Ordos, which is in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region, is the first circuit to be designed and built in its entirety by the Chinese, at a cost of £66 million ($110.1m U.S.), and will be homologated to FIA Level Two track status according to simulations. Its first car race is scheduled to be a round of the Chinese Touring Car Championship in September.
The 2.3-mile track has 18 corners and is scheduled to be finished this month, ready for its final track inspection.
