Allan McNish, Audi, Paul Ricard, 2010Allan McNish and Rinaldo Capello notched up a dominant first win for Audi's new R15 TDI plus in the Paul Ricard 8 Hours after a trouble-free run to the flag.

The duo led the race from the first lap, which saw a hectic dice with the pole-sitting ORECA Peugeot and the factory Aston Martin. But once ahead McNish pulled away, and never looked back.

The Audi eventually finished five laps ahead of its nearest competitor - the Aston Martin Racing machine driven by Adrian Fernandez, Stefan Mucke and Harold Primat.

Guy Smith brought the Rebellion Racing Lola home third ahead of the Peugeot, which suffered problems with a rear airjack that cost it several laps in the pits.

"Fantastic," McNish said afterwards. "Dindo and I gave the R10 and also the original R15 TDI their first victories and now to give the Plus its first win is excellent.

"It was a tough race in some ways but we can be very proud of this one because it's not often you take such a new car to track and it wins on first attempt."

The Strakka Racing HPD ARX machine fought back to win the LMP2 class with Danny Watts at the wheel ahead of Oak Racing's Pescarolo.

Felbermayr took a one-two in the GT2 class, Richard Lietz and Marc Lieb bringing home the winning Porsche. Jean Alesi and Giancarlo Fisichella were third in the AF Corse Ferrari.
