Four-time Bathurst 1000 winner Greg Murphy will return to Holden Racing Team as an endurance co-driver for this year's long-distance V8 Supercars events.
Murphy wanted to remain in the Holden fold when his previous team Kelly Racing switched to Nissan for 2013, so chose to focus on a Holden seat for Sandown and Bathurst rather than chasing a full-time deal with another brand. He has now secured a place alongside either Garth Tander or James Courtney at HRT, where he took his first Bathurst win in 1996.
"Life's come a full circle and I couldn't be happier, I'm back with the Holden Racing Team where it all started," said Murphy. "To be part of the factory Holden team feels very right."
HRT has won Bathurst seven times, although it did not take any race victories at all in the Triple Eight and Ford Performance Racing-dominated 2012 V8 series.
The deal with Murphy comes just days after former HRT enduro driver Cameron McConville retired from racing to become the series' driving standards officer.
