Matti RantanenFinnish driver Matti Rantanen will join the Munchi's Ford team for next month's Rally Finland.

The 28-year-old raised eyebrows on his home round of the World Rally Championship last season, when he finished in seventh place in Finland with a private Ford Focus RS WRC. His aim for this year is to beat that result and reduce the difference between himself and the leaders.

"I have to thank M-Sport for this opportunity," said Rantanen. "I have not driven a Focus since last year, but before the event I have 100 kilometers to test the car.

"My aim is finish higher than seventh and also to make the gap between myself and Mikko Hirvonen or Sebastien Loeb between zero and zero point five seconds per kilometer. That's what I'm aiming for. I want to show speed on the stages, not just on the overall results."

Rantanen, who is contesting this year's British Rally Championship in a Renault Clio, will drive a 2008-specification Ford Focus alongside regular Munchi's driver Federico Villagra.
