The 19-year-old Swiss driver, who has won races in both of the past two seasons, and took third place in the 2010 standings, has been brought in to set a benchmark for the other three drivers the team will field.
Trident, which has taken over Addax's entry in the series, will also field Italian Vicky Piria, who signed a race deal with the team last week.
Formula Abarth graduate Antonio Spavone and Japanese driver Yuki Shiraishi, who raced in Asian Formula Renault last year and has previously tested a GP2 car.
