BAT Engineering has released more renderings for its proposed 2012 IZOD IndyCar Series chassis design. The BAT project. directed by veteran Indy car designers Bruce Ashmore, Alan Mertens and Tim Wardrop, is among the proposals now being considered by the Indy Racing League's "ICONIC" advisory board. BAT pledges to bring "safety, efficiency, and a focus on developing a new high-technology industry in the Indianapolis area to the forefront of the process, with an extensive plan for job creation in Indiana."
Mertens and Ashmore were on hand at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach last month to talk up their design proposal with the IndyCar teams.
“Being at the race is a great way for us to keep the conversation going with everyone who is involved with and has a stake in this process,” said Mertens. “This is a very exciting time for the sport, and of course there is no better place to efficiently get feedback and continue to prepare than at a race meeting. Of course, no one needs any kind of excuse to go to Long Beach!”
