Tiago Monteiro says he is looking forward to racing in the V8 Supercar round at Surfers Paradise this October.
The former grand prix driver is racing a SEAT in the World Touring Car Championship this year, but will join the Australian series, along with several fellow ex-F1 and current WTCC drivers, for the endurance event on the Gold Coast.
"It is an honor to be invited to take part in this event as well as some of the best drivers in the world," said Monteiro, who raced at the track in Champ Car in 2003.
"I am always curious to discover different championships and I always loved racing in Australia when I was in Champ Car and F1. I want to thank the organizers of the Australian V8 Supercars Championship as well as the owner of the Centaur team, Al D'Alberto for offering me this unique opportunity. Surfers Paradise has always been a great event and I am positive that it will be a great festival again this year."
The Surfers event takes place one week before the penultimate round of the WTCC at Okayama in Japan.
