Next January's Monte Carlo Rally will be free to enter as the organizers celebrate the centenary of the iconic French Alpine event.
The Automobile Club de Monaco said it wanted to make the event free to allow as many privateer entries as possible to take part in the 100-year celebration of the first ever Monte Carlo Rally in 1911.
Rene Isoart, the ACM general commissioner, said: "Today, we are happy to confirm that enrollment fees will be waived. Our aim is to encourage many amateur drivers to return to participate in the Monte Carlo Rally – they are the bedrock on which this event and its history have been built."
The opening round of next year's Intercontinental Rally Challenge will be open to 100 competitors.
