Renault and Toyota F1 tester, sports car driver and one-time IndyCar racer Franck Montagny reportedly has an in with US F1 sporting director Peter Windsor toward a ride with the start-up F1 team for next year.
Montagny, who drove for Andretti Green Racing in the recent IndyCar Series race at Sonoma, told French newspaper
L'Equipe that he has been in discussions with Windsor, who has admitted that while he would like to have at least one American driver next year, an experienced hand in the other seat would be beneficial.
"They are having these kind of talks with all third drivers of the existing teams," Montagny said. "Nothing has been signed."
